About
Hi, I'm Seb & I'm a recent graduate from the University of St Andrews. I have been tutoring for a number of years now and have completed over 1500 lessons. I'd consider myself a friendly, patient and reliable individual. Over the years I have taken great pleasure in seeing the confidence of my tutees grow. I have taken even greater pleasure in seeing this new found confidence manifest itself in higher academic achievement.
I am flexible with my lesson delivery. I very much tailor the teaching style to each individual student. I like to start out with questions & worked examples to assess the current ability of each student I take on. If students respond well to the past questions & worked examples format I'll typically continue with this approach. For some students I'll adopt a teaching style that is based on slow & deliberate explanation (often with the aid of diagrams/lecture slides) until the student is ready to tackle practice questions. I will always challenge the student and prioritise topics I feel they are less confident in. Typically I'll begin each lesson by consolidating the topic that was covered the previous week - this ensures that a question/topic is thoroughly understood before moving on.
